Parking garage Garenmarkt | Specialist delivers 600 precast elements for parking garage

The Markelose Holcon BV, part of the Holterman Group, develops, produces and assembles precast concrete elements for utility and apartment buildings and for civil engineering. For this, the company has production facilities in Xanten in Germany and Hattersheim near Frankfurt.

"We do more than just produce precast concrete skeletons and other precast concrete elements. The first project we built for the Dura Vermeer - BESIX construction combination was the Lammermarkt in Leiden. This was followed later by the Toernooiveld parking garage in The Hague for Dura Vermeer, designed in precast concrete in close cooperation with engineering firm Bartels from Utrecht. For this we were responsible for the complete engineering. If customers wish, we can also assemble the elements through our partner Mammoet Prefab Montage from Etten-Leur," explains commercial consultant Marcel van Engen. "Our solutions have a lot of advantages for the execution. In turn, the client is mainly served by the short construction time and the relatively simple method of construction."

However, parking garage Garenmarkt was even more complex than the previous projects. For this, the building consortium chose to work directly with engineering firm Bartels. "Based on the preliminary production drawings, we were able to make targeted offers for the purpose of production and delivery. In the end we produced about 600 precast elements, such as walls, various types of beams, floor slabs and edge beams, to name a few, accounting for 3,000 cubic meters of concrete and 400 tons of steel," says Van Engen. "All elements were produced in Hattersheim Dld and transported by ship to Amsterdam and then shuttled 'by axle' to Leiden. In February 2018 we received the order and in March 2019 we delivered the first elements, which were assembled on site by Kuijpers Montage."
