Commissioned by contractor Dick de Boer, van Apeldoorn & Faber HOUT (Amsterdam) is providing installation and finishing of the bamboo high-sided mosaic in the new building of the Eye Center in Heerhugowaard.

"This is an exceptional project due to the special shapes in which the bamboo high-edge parquet has to be laid. By combining bamboo with different colors, it is possible to create the shape of an eye and thus realize an additional eye-catcher for this practice," says Dennis van Kessel, who is responsible for production within Apeldoorn & Faber HOUT. "We will be working with a team of four experienced packeters on this construction site for about four weeks."

No job is too crazy, which is why they were also the ideal partner for the main contractor for this project. The company, which today specializes in supplying, laying, maintaining and renovating wooden floors and parquet flooring, was born in 1985 from a collaboration between Andre Faber and Arnoud van Apeldoorn. "They started cutting trees on the Veluwe and thanks to the sawmill they started, they eventually started producing floors. Since 1999 we have focused on selling and laying wooden parquet floors based in a store on Utrechtsestraat in Amsterdam," Van Kessel explains. "We lay wooden floors with different types of wood. The assortment consists of oak, hardwood, softwood and hardwood. These types of wood are carefully selected. We guarantee high quality and are FSC®-certified. In addition, we also recently became Certified Craftsman DINESEN Flooring."

For each project, the specialist consults with the architect, contractor and/or builder to determine the best type of wood and laying method to meet all requirements. The firm has more than three thousand private customers and also works with quite a few architectural firms, such as TPAHG architects and HofmanDujardin architects, and contractors (De Nijs en zn., BAM, Schakel & Schrale, etc.). "For Bouwinvest, we realized The Olympic 1931 in Amsterdam and we lay Dinesen.com floors for projects throughout Europe," Van Kessel concludes. "Moreover, we not only lay wooden floors, but customers can also come to us for their maintenance and renovation."
