As a mutual favor to contractor De Geus Bouw, FB Hout supplied the parquet for the floors and stairs of the renovated Asscher Building in Amsterdam. "We prefer to be involved by our partners in a project as soon as possible, so that we can produce our product in the right way."

FB Wood only works on behalf of its partners, such as wholesalers and parquet specialty stores. "We supply the wood, they take care of the other activities such as measuring and installing the parquet, peripheral items and aftercare. We operate in more than 40 countries and produce some 600,000 to 700,000 square meters of oak flooring annually, with Cradle 2 Cradle Silver certification and available with FSC certification," says sales director Maik Broersen.
When FB Hout was approached by De Geus Bouw to supply parquet for the new Diamond Factory, it was decided to work with the installer to find a suitable answer to the outstanding questions. "This allowed us to see what is involved in a custom project. In doing so, it is wonderful to be able to participate in the renovation of the monumental Asscher building."
In total, FB Wood delivered just under 2,000 square meters of parquet to the Diamond Factory, consisting of a waterproof birch plywood backing and a ready-to-use European oak top layer. It serves largely as flooring, and parquet was also installed in the stairwell. "The stairs are produced from the same material as the floor, for a beautiful whole. This is where the specialism of the installer comes out especially well."
As far as FB Wood is concerned, retailers may also adopt this approach more often. "It would be nice if retailers and producers started working together more and producers were involved in projects by retailers earlier. That way we are better informed about the, possibly changing, wishes of customers to which we can respond faster to produce products in the right way."
