Intratone is a brand of the publicly traded Cogelec and originated in France. The company specializes in access control and intercom systems, which are continuously developed based on market requirements. By far the largest target group is Owners Associations and housing corporations. Not surprising, according to Van Reijsen, because the intercom system is an essential part of their residential buildings. "On average, an intercom system has a lifespan of 15 years and the demand for replacement systems is currently high. We find that building owners and managers are increasingly actively looking for solutions that can be updated and managed in real time and remotely. After all, they don't want to have to get in the car for every (minor) change. With systems like DINA and RENO, we respond to this perfectly."

High quality, stable and wireless connection

Distinctive about Intratone's systems is the use of the cell phone network. "We place a highly resistant intercom system with SIM card on the facade, which connects to the electronic locking system of the entrance door," says Van Reijsen. "As a result, users are no longer dependent on wiring or local wireless Wi-Fi or Bluetooth networks. The GSM network guarantees a high-quality, stable and wireless connection from the intercom to the smartphone and vice versa. Global coverage allows residents - even when they are not at home - to speak clearly to their visitor(s) and/or open the door for the parcel delivery person. Via the Intratone App, video can also be linked to the system as desired. Communication via a landline is also possible. A separate indoor station is therefore no longer necessary." Intratone thus removes a major annoyance for building owners and managers, Van Reijsen emphasizes. "Indoor stations regularly suffer from malfunctions and defects, because residents do not treat them gently. By using their own devices instead, this problem is effectively overcome. After all, residents are a lot more careful with their own stuff."

In case of relocations, administrators no longer need to come on site to replace nameplates. Indeed, by using digital name displays, all change management can be done very easily and through a secure online management portal on the desktop, tablet or smartphone. "Property managers can also easily and in real time add or remove users and/or build in time locks for specific users. With this, we actively contribute to (the feeling of) security."

The security aspect particularly relates to key management, Van Reijsen says. "Keys are by far the most vulnerable part of access control. After all, it happens regularly that residents lose keys, making the front door vulnerable. And broken keys and cylinders are also commonplace. To relieve administrators of this problem and save time and money, we offer a wide range of electronic keys that can easily be issued and authorized remotely and through the same management portal. For example, (temporary) access can easily be granted to home care workers, who come to wash and dress residents between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and help them go back to bed between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. But also to installers, painters and other maintenance parties, who come to do their work at a predetermined time. This keeps managers and residents completely in control."
