OPEN AND EASY
The need for (affordable) housing is greater than ever. To overcome the enormous shortage, some 100,000 homes must be built each year. A huge task, which calls for smart solutions such as conceptual building and pluggable installation. "Because both the number of pluggable installations and their diversity are increasing rapidly, new connections are needed," says Marcel Visser, Prefab (Pluggable) Expert at WAGO. "Both between market participants and between systems. In order to make the most of this, we have recently merged our Building Automation and WINSTA departments into WAGO Building Technologies. In addition, we are introducing numerous new and innovative products, with which the connection can be made even more than before. Open and easy and with all manufacturers."
"With pluggable installation, depending on the method of construction, installation can be significantly faster, more sustainable and with fewer failure costs," Visser emphasizes. "This is generally already known within installing Netherlands. However, because the developments are taking place at a rapid pace, knowledge sharing and support remains desirable. As the market leader for electrical connections based on spring clamp technology, WAGO actively contributes to this knowledge sharing as well as to innovations. A good example of this is the "maintenance-free certification" on our products, which opens the way to pluggable installation in residential construction. After all, reliable connections can now also be installed behind plastered ceilings and walls. We have also recently developed a product with which installers can easily make the transition from (parts of) traditional to pluggable installations. Thanks to the WINSTA® tube adapter, reuse in renovation and transformation projects is encouraged, bringing convenience and sustainability together perfectly."
In the Netherlands, WAGO also has a new Building Technologies division, which aims to work with installers to make projects even smarter, more transparent and simpler. In short: to work more closely together. Open and easy. "From now on we can work together with all market parties," Visser says. "Both Attema and ABB central junction boxes can now be plugged in with WAGO WINSTA®. A gamechanger, because we can now serve 100% of the market. And every distribution box (group box) is now also pluggable, in both WAGO WINSTA® MIDI and WAGO WINSTA® RD (round). With this, every market party can offer a pluggable total solution to its customers." Also unique is the new way of distributing and switching. "Following WAGO WINSTA® MIDI, switching without a center box is now also possible with WAGO WINSTA® RD," Visser said. "In addition, as a third innovation, we have expanded the well-known switching blocks with a special bridge, which means you no longer need separate center boxes. Instead, a compact switch block is sufficient. A major advantage for installers is that the installation can now be plugged in all possible ways. Installers are no longer tied to the traditional center box, but also not to specific system choices."
The new developments were introduced during the Prefab Vakbeurs in Den Bosch. According to Visser, the response was overwhelming. "Not surprisingly, because installers no longer have to show color (brand or system). Regardless of whether pluggable installations are to be integrated in dry (conceptual) construction or (precast) concrete construction and regardless of whether an installer is familiar with Attema or ABB: we can offer a suitable pluggable connection for every situation."
