Smooth cooperation between all parties involved was crucial

From the ground, you don't see anything at all. But once on the roof of the two apartment buildings with 36 owner-occupied and 40 rental homes respectively of project Kempkensberg in Groningen, you can't ignore the expertly executed installations of Breman Schoorsteentechniek.

Breman Chimney Technology is a specialist in prefabricated chimneys, flue technology, renovation advice and ventilation technology. "For this project, we integrated the risers for the heat recovery systems in the residential shafts. For the supply of these installations, we produced the aluminum roof channels, which we mounted using roof brackets specially developed by Breman. For the exhaust, we installed aluminum prefabricated chimneys on the roofs," explains Anne Neervoort, project supervisor/Revit modeling at Breman Schoorsteentechniek. "We can really speak of a successful cooperation between different departments of the Breman Installation Group here. For example, main client Breman Drachten took care of all aspects of the plumbing and finishing of the technical rooms with all the units, boilers and heat pumps. Breman Utiliteit Zwolle installed the pipes for the heat pumps in the shafts. In addition to the installations on the roof, we at Breman Schoorsteentechniek together with ExcelAir were responsible for installing the CO/LPG detection and ventilation in the large parking garage under the buildings."

Smooth execution thanks to LEAN working

Such a project is right up Breman Schoorsteentechniek's alley, because the specialists do not shy away from any challenge. For everything to run efficiently, close cooperation between the various Breman companies, main contractor Van Wijnen, contractor Anne Klompmaker and the other parties involved was crucial. "Since all parties are strong in LEAN working, the work fit together seamlessly, allowing a tight schedule to be maintained and no precious time to be lost," Neervoort states. "As project supervisor, I was closely involved in every phase: the discussions with the foreman about the planning, the creation of the design drawings, the production of all parts in our own aluminum workshop, the delivery of the in-house prefabricated elements and the assembly on site. The installation of the ductwork from the house to the roof took only five days per block. Due to good communication with all parties involved, installation on the roof also went extremely smoothly."
