Cavity wall insulation of end walls: The right insulation for a
good indoor climate

For the project in Geervliet, Thermecon was responsible for the cavity wall insulation of the end walls. The company frequently works with main contractor Willems Vastgoedonderhoud, including on projects for Woonstichting De Zes Kernen.

Thermecon is a leading insulation company with long practical experience. Director Rob Wouda: "We insulate the entire shell of buildings: from roofs and facades to floors and crawl spaces. For this we offer various solutions. For example, for facades we can insulate the cavity wall from the outside or apply a completely new system from the outside. The latter is mainly used if a building is to become energy neutral, because the insulation value here is many times higher than with cavity wall insulation. In this case, we can offer two finishes: stucco or mineral stone strips."

In addition, Thermecon can install subfloor insulation using spray technology. This also prevents cold bridges at foundation beams. Systems to insulate the crawl space are applied to the bottom of the crawl space and for roof insulation Thermecon offers solutions on the inside of the roof. Thermecon frequently provides Woonstichting De Zes Kernen with advice and insulation solutions. In this project, the cavity walls of the end walls were insulated with gray beads of expanded polystyrene, a bonded system with bead glue. Wouda: "In addition, we installed four ventilation shafts with grilles above ground level for each house, to allow proper ventilation of the crawl space. We also did this for the other residential blocks in this neighborhood. This intervention gives the residents a considerable return on investment, both in terms of energy savings and increased comfort." Wouda is very pleased with the cooperation with main contractor Willems Vastgoedonderhoud. "The communication is smooth; we can switch quickly and thus deliver quality together."
