The new building will be divided into three departments: production, bottling and storage & distribution. In addition, offices and laboratories will be set upstairs. The various areas will be fitted with custom flooring, which will be advised and installed by the Ruys Group.
Whereas Schipper Vloeren provides all structural concrete floors, specialist in durable industrial floors Ruys Vloeren is responsible for floor finishes. "As an organization, we like to take on an advisory role. Both in taking stock of all wishes and requirements and in incorporating them into the design," Hendrik Ruys says. "At the table with the architect and structural engineer, we map out the floor loads of machinery, traffic and chemical or thermal loads, among other things. Exactly according to our motto: 'the right floor in the right place.' Also in this project we were able to give this an excellent interpretation, in a project team with innocent drinks, the construction management agency and Schipper Vloeren and fully in accordance with the high BREEAM-NL and WELL ambitions."
In this project, consulting and execution follow each other dynamically. "We started with the production area, which is the heart of the new building," said Ruys. "In this area, emphatic attention was paid to slopes, puddle-free floors, chemical resistance, wall protection, manholes and gutters, on the basis of which we recommended Ucrete® floors. These floors have excellent anti-slip properties and are both food-safe and acid-resistant." In the course of the project, other departments followed suit. "In the packing department, for example, Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are used a lot. That is why we are installing an antistatic floor here, so that jumping sparks and/or discharge of built-up electricity to employees or machines is out of the question. In the offices and laboratories, we chose epoxy cast floors with a high aesthetic quality, which are also easy to clean."
For the delivery of the floors, Ruys Flooring is working with the specialized partner companies of the Ruys Group, including SR Flooring and De Bedrijfsvloer. Next summer, the project should be completed. "The lead time for the new construction is short. Moreover, in order for the products to cure properly, temperature and humidity must be within certain ranges," Ruys said. "Quite a challenge, since the first floor systems had to be applied during the winter period. Fortunately, we can rely on more than 45 years of knowledge and expertise at these and other times. No challenge is too big for us."
