Interior walls and ceilings

For the new premises of Nh1816 Insurances in Oudkarspel, De Mossel Projectafbouw made all metal stud walls, partition walls, secondary walls, plaster ceilings, suspended ceilings and acoustic ceiling islands.

De Mossel Projectafbouw exists since 1995 and during the past 25 years has become a specialist in the entire dry construction. From metal stud walls and metal stud ceilings to suspended ceilings, acoustically decoupled floors and acoustic solutions in wall and ceiling and including all associated carpentry such as coves, paneling and so on. Project Manager Joep van den Berg: "We have been working with main contractor De Geus Bouw for more than twenty years. They also approached us for the construction of Nh1816 Verzekeringen's new office building. It was a sizeable project: we are installing a total of some 3,100 m2 of partition wall, 3,100 m2 of pre-wall and 5,300 m2 of plaster ceilings. For us, the work started at the beginning of May and we are still plenty busy until the beginning of 2024."

Peak period

The work was divided into five phases. De Mossel Projectafbouw started in phase 1 with a small crew. During construction, this was scaled up to 15 to 20 mechanics in the peak period. Van den Berg: "We expect to finish our work early next year. After us comes the painting, the screed and the interior will be installed."

Cooperation with De Geus Bouw and other subcontractors has been smooth on this project. "On the shop floor, there is good contact and consultation between all parties. This creates a good working atmosphere and the parties have something to show for each other. With most of the parties we work together more often, we are also almost all from the same region."

Quality and warranty

De Mossel works exclusively with reputable manufacturers. In this project, Knauf was chosen as the supplier of all drywall products. "It provides the technical support and certificates. We turn the semi-finished products into a wall or ceiling. It helps both in the preliminary stage and during execution, but also after completion, that we have a strong manufacturer beside us. But in the end, we as builders are responsible ourselves and have to issue the project guarantees."

A substantial project for De Mossel and not a standard one either. The building has a special design and a unique oak construction. Van den Berg: "On a 2D drawing and even in the 3D model, you don't initially see the grandeur of this building. Only when you walk through the corridors do you experience the height and light in combination with the warm appearance of the oak construction. In addition, it is special that together with De Geus Bouw we can realize such a beautiful building in our own community, for a company where you yourself are insured."
