After contractor Dierckx finished the shell of the bakery, Roma insulation systems employees were able to start building in all spaces except the office area. After all, for most of the new construction, the rules of food-safe construction in conditioned spaces apply, and therein also lies Roma's expertise. Especially when the client demands the best of the best.
"Roma may be best known for insulation building solutions such as refrigeration and freezer units, but if you look at our door and panel series and the way everything is finished, we are just as much a specialist in food-safe building," begins Bart Hultermans, construction sales consultant at Roma insulation systems. "You won't see fasteners anywhere at Heerschap's bakery. Everything is stainless steel welded and has round or angled corners. Moreover, the materials are easy to clean. Everything has been thought through and worked out one hundred percent to ensure optimal cleanability."
In total, Roma supplied and installed 5,600 m² of sandwich panel work and about 40 doors and windows. Hultermans: "Most of the panel work in the bakery has a strong protective layer of 150 micrometer-thick food film, with all the corners finished blind with click profiles. Our strong point is that our door lines match this so well that you get top quality in terms of food-safe construction. These include swing doors, sliding doors, 60-minute fire-resistant doors, windows and high-speed roll-up doors. But quality insulation building materials alone won't get you there. That's why we assemble everything ourselves, with thoughtful details, resulting in a completely vapor-tight and energy-efficient insulation building."
Client Heerschap set the bar high in the design and construction of the new bakery. Hultermans: "That is the standard with us." The bakery has now officially opened and the first rolls and flans are already rolling out of the artisanal bakery. "We have the best of both worlds. The combination of pure nature, authentic and artisanal with the most modern techniques ensures that we can make the tastiest products," said principal Stan Heerschap in the media.
