Innovative connection and anchoring solutions for The New Defense

Smart, good and easy to process

Contractor of The New Defense ERA Contour and Leviat can fall back on a long relationship, says Thijs Doornhegge, Senior Project Engineer Facade at Leviat. "In this project, too, we were involved at an early stage to help think about the supports (facade supports) and lintels for the masonry facades. The design for The New Defense has many different detailing details, for which we came up with a smart, good and easily workable system. Exactly according to the applicable requirements and quality marks, such as KOMO, so that strength, rigidity and stability are guaranteed." For masonry support, the Halfen G, GH and GV systems are mainly used, delivered to the project in carefully matched partial deliveries. "Various lintels and (demountable) cavity seals are also used," Doornhegge said. "In addition, our concrete department supplies various Halfen FPA wall plate anchors."

New anchor system for precast elements

Because of the limited space on our construction sites and the shortage of skilled technicians, more and more prefabricated construction is taking place. "This is also partially chosen in The New Defense," Overdijk said. "In the concrete plant, various facade elements are prefabricated under the best weather and working conditions and provided with an authentic masonry appearance. These elements are then transported ready-to-use to the construction site, where they can be assembled in no time. For the anchoring of the elements as well as the underlying construction, we proposed an easily workable new anchoring system: Halfen HPF prefabricated anchoring. Thanks to this new system, thermal bridges are cleverly and effectively eliminated. Moreover, tolerances in construction can be easily accommodated."
