High-quality facade finishing in-house, with minimal tolerances

The combination of BIM engineering, production, delivery and assembly of the facade plus rear construction is a specialty, and also the specialty of Leebo Intelligent Building Systems. Especially with cascading renovations, as in the case of the Financial Plaza on the ING Campus in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, the combination of architecture and high-quality, thermal sealing requires process-oriented control, says Head of Calculation and Sales Jan Couwenberg.

The façade of the Financial Plaza, located some distance from the newly built ING HQ, is being replaced under high-quality architecture. "The design quality is always bespoke, even though we provide concept products," says Couwenberg. "As usual in our projects, the facades are finished with LeeBond, a sleek, stable and lightweight shell of aluminum composite with great freedom of form." The elements are CNC-milled in-house and combined with the steel rear frame structure LeeFrame, which, like LeeBond, was developed in-house. "LeeFrame is an inner leaf that allows for large spans and, like the facade cladding, is primarily assembled from custom frames for this project."

The facade will feature 400 LeeFrames 10.80 meters long and 3.60 meters high, as well as 900 bronze-coated LeeBond elements.

Couwenberg: "Production, transport, logistics and assembly are carried out entirely in-house and just-in-time deliveries were made: from the transport, assembly was carried out directly using cranes and telescopic handlers. The final tolerances and qv value of the façade are so low that a one-party process approach is essential, and that is our specialty. The elements were fixed blind and with blower door tests a qv value of 0.18 was achieved, very low for shell renovations. With our own equipment and 5 to 6 personnel, we completed the job in 10 months, to be delivered in the first quarter of 2020. With a process-oriented management from head to tail, we can offer the right quality guarantee and relieve the contractor."
