The 72 owner-occupied apartments in the Bernini Tower will soon use a high-quality ventilation system and heat and cold via ground-source heat pumps. BIT climate professionals will install the products of Itho Daalderop, supplier of ventilation and heating systems. From the requested energy performance and comfort requirements, BIT has also chosen this in this project.
BIT Klimaatprofessionals is committed to providing an optimal living and working environment with the most sustainable and innovative solutions. At Bernini, it takes care of the WKO, ground-source heat pumps and WTW units for the apartments. BIT is also realizing the ventilation system in the parking garage, which is located in the basement.
A total of thirty wells were drilled 298 meters deep. "With these we extract heat and cold from the ground to cool and heat the homes. This is done with underfloor heating. We also use this to make hot tap water," says Eric Luijsterburg, project manager at BIT. The WPU water-to-water heat pumps operate on collectively sealed wells. These were drilled on municipal land, with fifteen groups running to the building under the bike path. There is the collection point in the basement, from where the water is pumped around the building. There will soon be 74 heat pumps running and storage tanks ranging from two hundred to 270 liters. For ventilation, Itho Daalderop HRU 300 DuoZone wtw units will be used, allowing targeted ventilation. There will be a separate supply for the living and sleeping areas. CO2 sensors measure where fresh air is needed, so ventilation is primarily provided where it is needed. This increases comfort and saves energy. In the first quarter of 2026 all installations should be running.
These products from Itho Daalderop were chosen because of their high quality and low energy consumption. Erik Steijns, commercial manager at BIT: "Itho Daalderop calculates high ground temperatures for its heat pumps, so they offer a high COP (efficiency). And with a ground source heat system, residents will soon be able to use top cooling almost free of charge. By applying underfloor heating and cooling in combination with the Itho Daalderop Autotemp control, we thereby also offer the residents a high level of comfort. With the chosen wtw system, we ventilate mainly where it is needed. This too results in lower energy consumption." Director of business development at Itho Daalderop Niek de Jong further explains: "Our heat pumps use clean water in the source instead of glycol. This yields a higher efficiency and ensures a longer lifespan. We have been developing for the Dutch market for decades. The heat pumps are therefore quite compact. Especially in high-rise buildings, you often need modest power, which our heat pumps are very suitable for."
BIT Climate Professionals is part of DWT Group. It designed the climate installation together with client NBU. After Itho Daalderop puts the installation into operation, DWT Technical Management (a sister company of BIT) will assume maintenance.
