Sustainability spearheaded in facade anchoring

Jordahl Benelux, known as PohlCon Benelux as of January 2025, is gearing up for a promising edition of the BouwBeurs 2025. The company specializes in designing facade anchoring solutions. After all, every facade is unique and therefore so is the anchoring. Jordahl is also committed to a sustainable future, which director Michiel Huisstede is happy to elaborate on: "Sustainability often goes hand in hand with common sense."

What makes Jordahl unique? Customized facade anchoring solutions for unique facades. Instead of standard products, the company provides advanced anchoring systems specifically tailored to the project at hand. "We prefer to be involved in a project as early as possible," says Huisstede. "Then we can think along about the facade and the rear construction. After all, the anchoring must fit architecturally and constructively. But durability, assembly and the price-technical picture must also be right. Customization, in other words!" A great example is project Lighthouse in Eindhoven, which is now under construction.

This approach enables architects to design innovative facades. Be it thinner façade elements or experimental materials: Jordahl ensures that each anchoring fits the design perfectly. "Reducing material use is one of the most effective ways to build more sustainably," emphasizes Huisstede. "We ensure with our anchoring that innovative, sustainable facades are possible. And that everything is technically feasible and remains so."

Sustainability as a spearhead

Sustainability is now deeply rooted in Jordahl's corporate philosophy. The company is committed not only to innovations in its solutions, but also in its operations. In January 2025, for example, Jordahl will move to a brand new business building in Hengelo. The building is almost CO2 neutral, thanks to the installation of heat pumps and solar panels. "A great step," says Huisstede proudly. "The entire accommodation of our new building is set up for engineering. Because of our way of working, this is the most important leg of our company and therefore also the heart of our organization and our new building."

Jordahl is also looking for sustainable steel and conservation solutions in the supply chain. "We are looking up to what extent we can use green steel in our projects. For example, we are taking green steel certificates, so that we can contribute to the actual green production of steel in the future. We are also running a pilot project with Dura Vermeer in Enschede called Boswinkel. Here we see that sustainability measures are definitely feasible. For example, we work with more sustainable preservation methods and transport with HVO diesel. With this we emit considerably less CO2."

New name, same values

Jordahl is looking forward to meeting relations at the BouwBeurs 2025. But that's not all, the company is also introducing its new name there: PohlCon Benelux. Huisstede: "We get a new name, but remain the same creative partner in facade anchoring. Actually, we have been part of PohlCon for years. With this name change we want to communicate that we are a family business and think in sustainable relationships with customers and employees. We are therefore also clearly communicating our name change at the fair. At the end of the day, customers still remember the projects we work on and the people who work for us. Even though we get a new name, we continue with the same values."
