Impressive breakdown to perfection

As an important link in the new construction of the Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam, Blanken Afbouw BV, specialists in high-quality finishing, was asked to transform a refined concrete surface into care quality. With an eye for detail and technical perfection, the Bergambacht-based company delivered sleek stucco work in the operating rooms, stairwells and impressive atrium.

Blanken Afbouw worked directly on behalf of the hospital on the new building, which houses an Emergency Room, Surgery Center and Woman & Child Center, among others. “We finished the precast concrete walls and made repairs where needed,” says director Dennis Blanken. “In the stairwells and rooms, but especially in the large void, which is really the showpiece.”

Work took place in phases, beginning on the upper floors. The finishing work took place in sections, each with a lead time of about two to three weeks. “We worked with aerial platforms, sometimes in short periods of time between other disciplines. It was spectacular work that you don't encounter every day.”

Although most of the work has now been completed, the team will return one last time to put the finishing touches on a facade section that still needs to be closed.

Specializing in luxury finishing

Blanken Afbouw specializes in stucco, interior walls, spray painting and facade finishing. The company works for both residential and commercial construction and distinguishes itself through high-quality workmanship in every detail. “We are good at luxurious, neat work,” Blanken said. “That requires expert knowledge as well as the ability to think along in every situation.” 

‘A prestige project’

From small private projects to large hospitals, Blanken Afbouw moves in diverse assignments within an hour radius of Bergambacht. In doing so, quality and reliability always come first. The involvement with the Franciscus Gasthuis came from previous collaboration with the main contractor, including at Erasmus University. Blanken: “We were advised by a fellow builder and so we rolled into this project. The cooperation with Berghege Heerkens bouwgroep was perfect. Pleasant, down-to-earth and professional. For us this was really a prestige project and we are already proud of the result.”
