Transformation of school and community center into apartment building

De Laak and De Ronde in Eindhoven

Housing corporation Woonbedrijf has the ambition to build an average of six hundred new, sustainable and affordable homes per year in the Eindhoven region over the next ten years. Following projects on Vianenpad, Generaal Dibbetslaan and Generaal van Nijnattenstraat, 55 new-build apartments and a space for community activities are currently being realized on the site of former school building De Laak and community center De Ronde on Tongelresestraat. Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT is providing all electrical installations for this.

The front facade of the school's main building will be retained and integrated into the new building. Behind this facade, everything will be rebuilt, including the electrical installations. 

Engineering, design and realization

"Commissioned by and in good cooperation with contractor Huybregts Relou, we provide the engineering, design and realization of the complete electrical installation. From the light and power installations to the sockets and light switches in the apartments, the intercom system, the smoke detectors, the PV installation and the power supplies for the heat pumps," says Joan Wagenaar, project manager at Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT. "In addition, charging points for electric bicycles and electric wheelchairs will be realized in the common areas."

Good planning and coordination

The installation in De Laak and De Ronde will be built fairly traditionally, says Wagenaar. "A good planning and coordination with the building contractor and W-installer are therefore essential, which is excellently fulfilled in this project." All electrical installations must be completed after the construction period, after which the project will be delivered in mid-2025.
