Palace Het Loo has undergone major renovations. In addition to an intensive renovation of the palace, an expansion has been realized underground. This provides more space for exhibitions and facilities for museum visitors. As a specialist in the field of underfloor heating and cooling, ThermaNext was able to design, supply and install the climate floors for both the renovation and expansion. "Because of our expertise, ThermaNext was involved in this prestigious project at an early stage," says director Dirk Muller.
ThermaNext is used to realizing the most optimal climate floor in large new construction or renovation projects. At Paleis Het Loo, the biggest challenge was in the design phase, says Muller. "Every building is different, which means that the same installation cannot be designed for every building. Customization is necessary to provide the most optimal solution for each project and to translate this into the right system design." In addition to the monument status of Palace Het Loo, different final finishes also had to be taken into account. Resulting in different pressure loads and heat emission, as for example in the case of floors finished in oak and marble. Concrete new building sections were also fitted with climate floors. "We made extensive custom simulations of the various usage situations. Based on these, a specified laying plan was created," Muller explains.
In the new building the so-called tacker plate system was chosen, on which the piping of the climate floor is mounted. In connection with the higher pressure load on the floor caused by the many museum visitors, the insulation boards were developed exclusively for Paleis Het Loo. Dirk Muller explains that ThermaNext is always able to deliver a "Next level product" if the situation calls for it. "Another great example of this is the piping that ThermaNext installed for the climate ceilings in the West Wing of the palace. In terms of piping, we use only A-quality and the installation has to be 100% perfect, because the ceilings are finished with plaster."
Designing and installing climate floors requires an integrated approach and vision, which is widely shared within the ThermaNext team. "Piece by piece, ThermaNext's team members can build on years of experience, which also smoothly aligns the logistics process around installation and the various phases of the construction process with the general contractor's construction flows."
