Sustainability and energy savings apply to every building project anew. The automatic door solutions from FAAC BV, specialists in access systems for people, vehicles and access control, contribute to this and are used in a wide variety of applications. FAAC BV was commissioned to provide a suitable solution for the new KFC restaurant in Foodcourt Nieuwegein. An automatic sliding door system with integrated air curtain was chosen. Result: even more energy saved and higher comfort for the visitor.
"From the branch in Doetinchem, we are responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and service of, among other things, the automatic doors in all Dutch projects," says Account Manager Koen Leijen. "For example, last year we were contacted by fast-food chain KFC to supply and assemble a suitable solution for the new branch in Foodcourt Nieuwegein, which will soon open its doors. Recently we integrated an energy efficient total solution: an automatic 'Energy Saving' sliding door combined with a patented
Airslide air curtain."
Such automatic door systems never open unnecessarily and close securely once the visitor has passed. Also, the door does not open much, if at all, if a person passes in front of or behind the door. This is because the door distinguishes a visitor from a passerby. Extra-dense brushes between the doors ensure that they close tightly and do not let heat or cold through. All systems also come with a switching power supply with low energy consumption.
"We score high in terms of energy savings, yet we could do even better. That's why we developed the Airslide, a unique product on the market. The Airslide is an integrated and patented air curtain. The curtain forms a shield, separating the air from inside and outside. This protects the indoor climate from cold in winter and from excessive heat in summer. Air loss is reduced to 45%, heat loss to as much as 52%, which can result in energy savings of up to 42%," Leijen explains. "Thanks to the choice of an entrance system with integrated air curtain, not only energy but also a lot of space was saved at KFC in Nieuwegein. After all, the traditional lock with two doors was replaced by a single door system."
