This week, Het Schoter in Haarlem was the first to occupy the temporary sports hall to bridge the new Sporthal Sportweg building. Neptunus, specialists in demountable construction, built the temporary building right next to the school in just a few weeks. Gym teachers, students, associations, SRO and the municipality are enthusiastic about their new hall.
"Gee, it's much bigger than I thought!" and "Acoustically it's already better." Amazement abounded among the Schoter's gym teachers as they entered their temporary gymnasium. They already received a sneak preview in November and were all enthusiastic about the temporary accommodation that they will officially occupy as of this week.
The new sports building of 20 by 45 meters and 8 meters in height is divided into 3 gymnasiums. This allows the school to cater to different sports and the development of their new LO program. The temporary gymnasium is fully equipped. Between February and June, the old gymnasium next to the school will be demolished to make room for the construction of the Sportweg Sports Hall. New construction will start there in the summer. The temporary sports hall will remain in place for at least 18 months, until the new hall is ready for use .
SRO Kennemerland: "The use of the demountable sports hall right next to the school puts an end to the daily complex hall planning, distributed over several locations. In addition, it provides space for associations, such as sports club HLC, to expand their offerings in the evenings."
The preparatory ground work for the sports hall took only a few days. The temporary building was constructed in just under 4 weeks and the furnishing was done in a few weeks. Trial runs were carried out in December before the official inauguration in January. In terms of comfort and ease of use, the temporary sports hall is comparable to a regular sports hall. With the advantage that the demountable building can be dismantled and reused after the period of use. With the Neptunus demountable sports hall, the municipality of Haarlem found a flexible and sustainable solution to bridge the new building.
