Van der Valk hotel Zuidas, Amsterdam | Sophisticated parking management for maximum comfort

For Van der Valk, WPS Parking Systems is a familiar name. WPS Parking Systems has provided the parking management system for many Van der Valk hotels. It is therefore not surprising that WPS was also approached to implement the parking management system for the Van der Valk hotel at Amsterdam's Zuidas.

Within WPS Parking Systems, Frank van Erp's responsibilities include the hotel industry. This has given him considerable expertise in this field. "What immediately stands out is the unusual shape of the hotel and the fairly limited area on which it is being built," he notes. "That has implications for parking. To arrive at the best parking solution, the possibilities and impossibilities were first discussed with the Van der Valk family and the architect, among others. In consultation with them, a thorough plan was worked out 'from scratch.'"

Layout parking area
Many factors must be taken into account for the best parking management solution. Especially in a busy and prominent location like the Zuidas. The available parking space - divided over several parking levels, must be utilized as well as possible. Guests staying at the Van der Valk hotel for a longer period must be able to easily use the parking garage; the same applies to other target groups, such as visitors to the Brasserie or the restaurant.

Safety
Security also plays an important role. In addition to the barrier system for entering and exiting, the parking garage is closed with a speed gate supplied by WPS. In addition, the parking management system is connected to the other systems, such as the fire alarm system, to ensure safety even in the event of an emergency.

Comfort
The selected parking management system features the latest technologies. For example, automatic recognition means great convenience for visitors and hotel guests. "Parking rates are high in Amsterdam," Van Erp knows. "We can't change anything about that. What we can do is offer service. How comfortable is it if a parking ticket - when booking a room, is automatically converted to a temporary subscription that allows hotel guests to drive in and out freely during their stay? Payment of the parking fee can be made centrally - at receptions or at the exit terminal."

Flexible payment
WPS' ParkiD system also provides maximum service for payment. The exit terminal will be equipped with "Dip & Go" and "Tap & Go. This makes it possible to pay with and without a PIN code (Dip & Go) and contactless (Tap & Go). Van Erp: "The visitor chooses where and how he wants to pay: centrally at the reception, the Brasserie, the hotel or the exit. It couldn't be easier."
