Aluminum window and facade specialist invests in a sustainable future

Specialist in aluminum windows, facades and solar constructions Vorsselmans Group is going to build new premises! The current location on Wuustwezelseweg in Loenhout will be expanded in the coming months with approximately 3,500 m² of production hall and 1,000 m² of office space, with maximum attention to sustainability, circularity and flexibility. The completion of 'Evergreen' is planned for the summer of 2022; the year in which Vorsselmans Group will also celebrate its 50th anniversary.

"Family business Vorsselmans, founded in 1972 by Stan Vorsselmans, has experienced steady growth over the past nearly 50 years. Both in knowledge, professionalism and employees," says Managing Director Mark Vorsselmans. "Our company has continuously invested in attracting and training skilled employees. To also bind, fascinate and retain these employees for the long term, a professional working environment is a must. Moreover, there must be sufficient room for relaxation, according to the motto 'work hard, play hard'. With our new building we are giving this an even better interpretation. For example, through a new company restaurant and 'Vorsselmans café', where we can celebrate successes and receive customers in an environment that befits Belgian hospitality."

Strategy 2022

The past year and a half have not been easy for Vorsselmans Group either. "Due to the corona pandemic, scarcity of raw materials and strong price increases, we did not always have the wind in our sails," Vorsselmans acknowledges. "Nevertheless, we decided to make a serious investment in the future by increasing our production capacity as well as office space by approximately 50%." The reason for the new building is a strategy exercise with a committed coalition of employees called strategy 2022. "From this exercise, a number of spearheads/KPIs emerged, on which we want to focus high in the coming period. These include logistics improvement, further automation and digitization of processes, but also successful prefabrication of facade elements, extra attention to sustainability & quality and more room for education & training. This will enable us to serve the market in Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom even better."

Evergreen

The spearheads resulted in a highly functional and all-electric building design, with a unique facade that fits Vorsselmans Group's image. "Not for nothing did we christen our project 'Evergreen,'" said Vorsselmans. "The new building was designed with great attention to sustainability, circularity and flexibility. But also with an emphatic eye for the rural environment. Part of the facade will be clad with aluminum cassettes, in which the image of a forest becomes visible thanks to specific perforations. This forest is also a nice nod to forest management; an active hobby of my father and me."

New facade system

In addition to the aluminum facade cassettes, a lot of glass will be added. An important part of this is a new facade system with vertical sliding doors, with which Vorsselmans Group intends to respond to the growing demand in residential towers and other residential buildings. "In our company restaurant and Vorsselmans café, we would like to gain experience with the functioning and experience of this new application so that we can advise clients even better," said Vorsselmans. "During the day, the facade can be fully opened, giving employees and visitors the feeling of sitting on a terrace. Solar panels and heat pumps also result in an energy-friendly building, which is prepared to perfection for a sustainable future."
