A recognizable facade image characterizes the new Hofbadtoren on the outskirts of The Hague. This residential tower can be seen from the surrounding highways and, together with the existing Couperus Tower, forms "the Gateway of Ypenburg.
The social housing units, commissioned by Staedion in 2021, offer many benefits to residents. The facade insulation meets today's energy requirements, allowing the tenants to live there comfortably. Remco Gertsen, Manager Business Development at Isoned B.V. adds, "The Hofbadtoren is characterized by the mineral cladding, which is an extension of the already existing swimming pool: the Hofbad. The mineral cladding strips have numerous advantages, including great design freedom and durability in both material and longevity. The cladding strips are dried instead of fired, which reduces CO2-emissions. Where the red/orange shades provide a recognizable facade image, the white frames modernize the Hofbad tower and give the building a fresh look at the entrance to Ypenburg."
Sustainable buildings of the future are realized using the exterior facade insulation systems of Sto Isoned B.V. As the market leader in this segment for a total solution in the building industry, Sto Isoned B.V. has been making the Netherlands more sustainable and beautiful for 40 years through modern facade systems with ultimate design freedom.
Prefabricated façade elements combined with mineral cladding have provided a recognizable façade image, including the sustainable insulation techniques that are so important today. The facade cladding in red/orange tones has a special texture, creating a unique and distinctive design that still blends nicely into its surroundings. In particular, the white framing stands out particularly against the red/orange cladding. "A new facade that meets the energy requirements is an excellent opportunity to let the Netherlands show its color. To do justice to the residents and to let the streets reflect our society," says Rob de Jong, Managing Director of Sto Isoned B.V.
The Netherlands wants to solve the housing crisis by building enough homes before 2030. This is a considerable challenge, also for Sto Isoned B.V. Optimizing construction processes in every phase of a project is necessary. Among other things, rising energy costs and noise pollution can be limited by the professional facade insulation systems of Sto Isoned B.V.
The preservation of the apartments in the Hofbadtoren in The Hague is in full swing. The social and sustainable rental apartments are owned by Staedion and built according to the concept of contractor Dura Vermeer Bouw Rotterdam BV. Construction of the Hofbadtoren started in September 2019. Together with the already existing Couperus Tower, it forms the Gate of Ypenburg. The Hofbadtoren is an extension of the existing swimming pool and has the same style facade architecture. The tower offers 162 two- and three-room apartments in various rental classes. All apartments have an outdoor space on the sun- and noise-sheltered side, creating a pleasant living environment for residents. It offers residents of The Hague the chance to live in a new social rental home in a beautiful neighborhood, close to highways, public transportation and all kinds of amenities.
The two- and three-bedroom apartments of 50 m2 up to 65 m2 are sustainable and energy efficient. They will be connected to district heating, making them gas-free as well. By the way, there will also be solar panels, both on the roof and on the side wall of the building. The building also has a lower EPC than required by law. The Hofbadtoren also offers a perfect view and participates in a unique way in color recognition and sustainability in the Netherlands.
