New, innovative solutions to existing or new challenges. At Scheuten Glas, with headquarters in Venlo, they are constantly working on it. Recently the company introduced another novelty, Multisafe Fade, safety glass fitted with a film with a seamless gradient.
Scheuten Glas is a manufacturing company with an innovative history, making it an interesting partner for a variety of parties. In the past, for example, Scheuten Glas was one of the first companies to bring double-glazing to the Dutch market.
Account Manager Iris Receveur is responsible for the sales of Multisafe Fade at Scheuten Glas. She explains that the company is one of the market leaders in the Netherlands and now has 10 branches in three countries, employing some 900 people. "We are often involved in large projects. An example in the region was the Innovatoren. In Rotterdam, we supplied the glass for the new Central Station." Scheuten Glass, she says, is constantly looking for new applications in cooperation with various parties. Multisafe Fade is a recent example of this. "This is safety glass fitted with an interlayer film with a large and perfectly seamless milky-white gradient that brings many benefits, especially for balconies and balustrades."

Multisafe Fade involves safety glass fitted with an interlayer film with a large and perfectly seamless milky white gradient.
Receveur calls it a major technical innovation. "A product like this did not exist before; in fact, it turns out to be very difficult to make. Realizing the fade function requires advanced techniques. Scheuten produces the Multisafe Fade glass to size with less waste, so we reduce costs and can offer an attractive price even in small runs."
When glass is foiled for privacy reasons, it is closed and there is limited light penetration. With Multisafe Fade, that limitation is overcome. "This product combines design, privacy and safety. There is a gradual progression from white to transparent, with the transitions not visible to the naked eye. So you can make part of the glass closed and another part gradually transparent, allowing more light to enter and the view to quickly become visible. It also looks attractive. Concrete edges, for example, can also be kept out of sight."
With Multisafe Fade, Scheuten Glass is filling a gap in the market, Receveur knows. She expects it to be in high demand, especially for balconies and balustrades in the higher segment. "We have now developed a sample box that interested parties, such as balcony railing manufacturers, but also architects can request in order to easily become acquainted with the product. I am sure they will then see at a glance what advantages Multisafe Fade has to offer compared to regular products." A successful pilot project (Palenstein) has now been completed with VMG Versteeg Metaal Groep in Zoetermeer.
