Solid base for the flat roof

New bituminous underlayment EshaBase G EPS from BMI Icopal

With the introduction of the new bituminous carpet pad EshaBase G EPS, BMI Icopal answers market demands for a versatile stable carpet pad that is easy to process. With a thickness of 3 mm, EshaBase G EPS forms a solid and flat base for both multi-layer mechanically fastened, as well as for loose-laid ballasted roofing systems. The new roofing membrane also provides optimum protection for uncovered EPS insulation panels.

The new roof roll consists of an impregnated glass fabric with an undercoat and top coat of modified bitumen. The bottom and top of the roll are then finished with foil. Initially, this underlayer was developed specifically to protect uncoated EPS insulation panels. This is because during the burning of the top layer, EshaBase G EPS prevents the EPS insulation from melting in. Due to its flexible construction, this roofing roll can be used on all substrates. When rolled out, the membrane lies tight and well flat on the roof.

Easy to work with all year round

Its composition allows processing all year round. Even during cold winter months, flexibility is maintained. Thanks to the film applied to the bottom and top, the material can be dried quickly. Depending on the substrate, the overlaps can be welded optimally even in more humid conditions.

According to Timo Clerkx, Product Manager Flat Roof at BMI Icopal, EshaBase G EPS is an answer to market demands. "Processors asked for a more stable underlayer that can be used on various substrates and under any bitumen topcoat. In developing an underlayment that protects uncapped EPS insulation from heat, we took these questions into account. The result is a widely applicable carpet pad of 3.0 mm thickness with extremely solid characteristics. Moreover, EshaBase G EPS is recyclable, just like all our other bituminous products."
