Energy consumption, sustainability and environment continuously under the magnifying glass
Van den Biggelaar Installatietechniek supplied the total package of mechanical installations for V8. A considerable challenge. The project was extensive, the time pressure was great and the bar for quality was high. After all, the BREEAM 'Outstanding' certificate requires the highest achievable of installations. Energy consumption, sustainability and environmental impact are constantly under the magnifying glass.
To meet all these requirements, Van den Biggelaar Installatietechniek paid a lot of attention to the preparation. The engineers worked out the total project in 3D and after the client's approval, the installations were prefabricated as much as possible in their own production hall. From there, they were delivered just-in-time to the installers who were on site. "We have a lot of experience in similar projects," says Joost van den Biggelaar, director of Van den Biggelaar Installatietechniek. "But a project of this size - 60,000 m2 - was the first time for us."
The careful preparation paid off. The work ran like clockwork and could be delivered to the full satisfaction of client and user. "We had purchased everything on time," says project manager Wim Mouwen. "As an installation company with forty years of experience, we are surrounded by regular, reliable partners and suppliers. They do their best for you. As a result, we hardly had any delivery problems. The fact that we are a family business also helps. Everyone is willing to go the extra mile."
Van den Biggelaar realized the complete rainwater drainage, the water installation including a gray water system for reuse of rainwater, the sanitary installations, the ventilation with heat recovery and the complete climate management system. "This project brought us a lot," Van den Biggelaar acknowledges ruefully. "Because everything had to be realized at the highest possible level, we were able to learn a lot from it. We delivered the installations and more than met the highest achievable sustainability certificate!"
