Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
Brede School Het Dok in Oegstgeest was growing rapidly and so an extension was needed. However, an extra floor on the existing building was not possible, so they looked further afield. The new Rhijngeest health center across the street offered possibilities. Construction of that building had yet to begin when it was decided to add an extra floor on top for the elementary school. Triatact was the spider in the web overseeing the entire construction.
In addition to the school, there are several medical professionals in the building.
Triatact deals with housing issues in healthcare. She initiates, supervises and manages care housing. In Oegstgeest, she was already involved during the initiation phase. She supervised the entire construction process and also carries out the management for the coming years. The company knows how to get all parties together for a great project, from contractors to investors and tenants. "We first researched the new neighborhood in Oegstgeest and came to the conclusion that a health center was of great importance here," says Martin Moes, director at Triatact. A selection of health care providers followed, as did the search for an investor.
Health Center Rhijngeest currently houses GP Practice Rhijngeest, Expertise Center Uniek, a dietician, Obstetric Practice Oegstgeest, Psychology Practice Herfkens, Pharmacy Beker, Paramedic Center Katwijk/Rijnsburg and Buurtzorg Oegstgeest. "To obtain sufficient volume for the building, we looked at what else could be housed," Moes says. "Initially, the children's daycare center came into view, and at a second stage it came up through the municipality that Het Dok had a space shortage. Then a plan emerged in which Het Dok would occupy the second floor. Should the number of students decline in the future, the spaces could be converted into housing."
Het Dok Elementary School sits right across the street. So this was a perfect location for an expansion. The school uses the upper floor of the building and the care providers and the daycare center use the lower floor. Moes: "When looking for construction parties, we looked at experience in healthcare and school construction. There are specific requirements for the building, such as good insulation between spaces to minimize sound transmission. Ventilation is also a very important issue. The building meets the standards for Fresh Schools."
The appearance of the building became playful with staggered sections and digital masonry with light bricks. The health center was given its own entrance, and from a second entrance, the daycare center and school are accessible. "The building was completed as of March 1. Everything went according to schedule, despite corona. A year ago we did have problems due to strong winds. A wall blew over, but that was quickly remedied. Difficulties with the delivery of materials also meant that the project was not always smooth. Nevertheless, we came out well. The building looks beautiful and fits in beautifully with its surroundings," Moes said.
