ERAflat Purmerhoek Capelle aan den IJssel | Ready for connection to district heating

Improvement maintenance will make the Purmerhoek in Capelle aan den IJssel a lot more sustainable. One of the measures contributing to this is that the residential building will eventually switch to district heating. Team ERAflats and Mampaey installatietechniek bv are making the necessary preparations for this.

Mampaey was already a regular partner of both ERA Contour and Havensteder and is now thinking along with the construction team from the preparation phase. "Based on Havensteder's wishes, we looked at various options for the heating system," says Mampaey's project manager Cees Jongkoen. "We are now implementing the chosen option."

Modify central heating connection

The current central heating connection is being modified so that the Purmerhoek can easily switch to district heating in the future. To this end, Mampaey is rearranging the three existing boiler houses on the roof. From these boiler houses, Mampaey is laying a new main pipeline network. This pipe network runs across the roof and goes all the way down per strang to all the homes. Jongkoen: "In the homes, we are installing the district heating unit, new radiators and a new pipe network. For the new connection, we are laying a two-pipe system, with a supply temperature of 70°C and a return temperature of 40°C."

Two days per property

Last February, Mampaey laid the installations for the pilot rod, at a rate of one home per day. Work on the boiler houses and roof followed three weeks later. Jongkoen: "Since May, we have been working fully in the homes. We are running with the train of work. Our work takes place on the third and fourth day. On day three we demolish the old installation, on day four we install the new installation. Then we fill the installation and commission it."

Good preparation, fast execution

With a pace of two homes per day, progress is brisk. This is largely due to good preparation. "In the preliminary stage, we thought out everything in detail," Jongkoen said. "We also prefabricated many of the components. With 504 nearly identical homes, this project lends itself ideally to this. And it is pleasant for the residents. By prefabricating we speed up the installation work in the homes and cause them as little inconvenience as possible."
