Purchase and turnkey realization agreement BoogieWood signed between VORM and Haag Wonen

One of the largest CLT residential buildings in the Netherlands

Haag Wonen and construction project developer VORM will start the realization of residential building BoogieWood in the Binckhorst area of The Hague in Q4 of 2024. This week, both parties signed the purchase and turnkey realization agreement. This signing paves the way for the construction of one of the largest Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) residential buildings in the Netherlands, with sustainability and affordability at its core.

A unique, fast construction method

The signing of the purchase and turnkey realization agreement between VORM and Haag Wonen marks the first step toward a future-proof living environment, where sustainability and affordability go hand in hand. Local is the delegated do-developer in close collaboration with VORM. VORM and Haag Wonen are building 293 affordable rental homes. BoogieWood will be realized using a prefabricated timber construction method, allowing the project to be built in approximately 2 years after demolition of the existing building.

A sustainable future in the making

The project, designed by OZ Architects and De Zwarte Hond, will be built on the underground parking basement of the former building at 117 Binckhorstlaan. This old building will be demolished in a circular fashion, meaning that materials will largely be reused in new construction. What will take its place is a modern CLT building with an urban look. The building will be 36 meters high and is fully in line with the city's sustainability goals.

Another milestone for the Binckhorst

According to Hans Meurs, CEO of VORM, BoogieWood marks a new milestone for the Binckhorst. "This is our fourth large-scale project in this neighborhood, and with BoogieWood we prove once again that sustainable construction does not have to come at the expense of affordability. We are ready to start the circular demolition in November, with the starting point being the environmental permit, expected in September."

Kirsten Dubbelman, Director of Real Estate at Haag Wonen: "We are excited about the collaboration with VORM. This project with 293 homes shows that affordable and sustainable housing can go hand in hand. By starting work immediately on the basis of a usable permit, we are speeding up the construction process. If everything goes according to plan, the first residents will be able to move into their new homes in BoogieWood as early as around the summer of 2027.''
