De Kroon op Leeuwesteyn in Utrecht is not just another new construction project. It is an ambitious plan that literally bridges the gap between sustainability, modern housing needs and the city's rich history. Not only are houses being built here, but also a living environment that embraces both present and future. Developing builder Trebbe from Nieuwegein played a key role in this special project. Board member Martin Beukeboom and commercial manager Erwin Noorda share their vision and pride in this iconic development.
Trebbe is a family business with a rich history dating back to 1911. Through the years, the company has proven to be a reliable and progressive partner in development, housing and utility construction. With the mission statement "Building happiness together," Trebbe puts the earth, people, society and the long term at the center of everything it does. "Sustainability is not a trend for us, but a way of working and thinking," says Beukeboom. "By building with respect for people, earth and society, we not only ensure the continuity of our work, but also contribute to a better future."
With De Kroon op Leeuwesteyn, Trebbe realized a residential neighborhood that breathes the soul of Utrecht. The project includes 70 homes, ranging from owner-occupied units to affordable rentals in the middle segment. The distinctive Art Deco architecture is a tribute to the city, while at the same time the district offers a modern and sustainable living environment. The homes are energy-neutral and surrounded by a green, central courtyard. "This courtyard garden is an oasis of calm in the dynamics of the city," Beukeboom said. "It is a place where residents meet, relax and enjoy themselves together."
The Crown at Leeuwesteyn was built with the future in mind. Trebbe integrated innovative energy solutions, such as solar panels and wind turbines, with natural materials and a smart energy concept. "This project goes beyond sustainable energy," says Noorda. "We have created a living environment that is not only sustainable, but also healthy and pleasant to live in."
A particular challenge with this project was the 5.30-meter height difference in the terrain. "We used this cleverly," Beukeboom explains. "Not only does it offer beautiful views, but it also allows for invisible parking, making the neighborhood fit perfectly into its surroundings."
For Trebbe, De Kroon op Leeuwesteyn is more than a development and construction project. It is a contribution to the city of Utrecht and its community. "When I see the lights on at night or children playing in the courtyard garden, I feel why we are doing this," says Noorda. "Together we are really building happiness."
With this project, Trebbe has once again shown what it means to build sustainably, innovatively and people-oriented. The Kroon op Leeuwesteyn is not only a new neighborhood, but a crown jewel for Utrecht and a proud addition to Trebbe's portfolio.
