Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
The facade of The Blox is being prepared completely prefabricated. In the workshop of WVH Gevelprojecten, various specialists are working on the prefabricated facade elements. Van der Heijden Geveltechniek provides professional assembly of the aluminum frames in the HSB elements under conditioned conditions.
“Our assembly crew specializes entirely in installing the frames and glazing in the prefabricated HSB elements,” says Bas van der Heijden. A total of 1,271 Facédo aluminum window frames are involved, with dimensions of about 2 meters wide and 2.60 meters high. “In addition, we also include the sealing directly and make preparations for the second sealing that takes place on the construction site. The repetition rate is high, but that makes the work efficient and manageable.” Two frames are integrated per HSB element before the elements are further finished with flashings by WVH Facade Projects. “This method of working runs like a train, with each party connecting in a fixed order,” he says.”
“In the workshop, we constantly work with a fixed team of two mechanics,” says Van der Heijden. “Because our production depends on the number of available elements, the biggest challenge lies in monitoring the schedule and ensuring continuity. Finding that balance is essential. In January we will start again with a short assembly series, followed by a longer phased period starting in week 15.”
According to Van der Heijden, it is mainly WVH Gevelprojecten“ years of experience that is the basis for the success of this project. ”For over 20 years we have been assembling aluminum and plastic window frames, glass and curtain walls. We also work a lot together with an HSB builder in Kapelle and see that prefabrication has been on the rise in recent years. As a result, we are increasingly approached for specialized projects, both prefab and traditional. This is already the fifth major project we are assembling for Facédo.
