After decades of vacancy, the monumental Van Gendt Hallen in Amsterdam will be given a valuable new purpose. The five characteristic industrial halls will be given a new lease of life with a nice mix of offices, residences, catering establishments, stores and a museum, in which modern techniques provide optimum comfort and security. A good example of this is the link between the access control and burglar alarm system, for which Simac Access Solution joined forces with Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT.
The ball for this special project got rolling via Simac Access Solutions. It referred client Van Gendthallen BV to the expertise of Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT for the realization of the burglar alarm system. Not only for the offices, flex work places and stores, but also for the hospitality areas, general areas and the museum. Together, the installation drawings were further elaborated and the best positions for the cabling were determined.
A BORG-certified burglar alarm system was chosen that meets the strict requirements of the CCV. Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT takes care of the installation and connection of the detectors, (sub)switches and other peripheral equipment. In addition, the installer is responsible for the programming, as well as associated (delivery) tests. In order not to stand out in the historic halls, all components are finished in black.
Several E-installers are active on site, controlled by Van Gendthallen BV. For example, they provide the cabling to which the security installation is connected. Simac Access Solutions is responsible for the access control system, which is cleverly linked to the burglar alarm system. This allows the system to be automatically switched on and off based on access rights.
Project Van Gendt Hallen is distinguished by its scale and complexity. For example, all users get their own zone or sub-area within the burglar alarm system. A total of about thirty sub-areas are involved. The stores and offices are equipped by Van Hees with a control panel or card reader, so that shopkeepers and office staff can switch the burglary protection of their own area on or off. The burglary protection of the general areas and (partially) flexi-work places is controlled by the security officer present. This keeps the management clear. A link to the access control system of Simac Access Solutions provides even more control.
For example, in the office spaces and flex-work areas, sub-areas can be automatically switched on and off when an access badge or access code is presented. Authorizations for this can be easily granted or revoked. It is also possible to set specific time periods, effectively keeping out unauthorized persons.
The combination of modern techniques and a historic building makes this project unique, challenging and above all very beautiful to work on. Thanks to the new destination, the monumental Van Gendt Hallen will be preserved for the future, with the access control and burglar alarm system providing maximum flexibility, comfort and security.
