On Monday, September 23, the construction of new-build project Binck Plaats in The Hague officially started. Project developer VORM celebrated this milestone together with co-developers BPD and Local (together Binck Zuid BV), the new residents and Alderman B. A. Revis. On the subproject Binck Plaats - part of Binck Eiland - 46 energy-neutral townhouses will be built, with an EPC of 0. "The Binckhorst is named after the hidden jewel of the area: Kasteel de Binckhorst. That is exactly what this area is becoming. A pearl in the Dutch living, working and living landscape. A comfortable place to live, a lively place where bustle is combined with tranquility,' says Willem Romijn, Project Developer at VORM. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Wishes for the future
The official act was extremely special. By inserting postcards with wishes for the neighborhood into a time capsule, the official starting signal was given for the construction of Binck Plaats. Together with BPD and Local, VORM is realizing 46 exclusive energy-efficient townhouses and a parking garage with 247 parking spaces with a roof garden of more than 5,500 m2. The homes have been designed by Klunder Architects.
the time capsule with wishes was buried, to be taken out of the ground again in 100 years. 'Greetings from 2019'.
Energy-neutral living for the future
In the transformation of Binck Island, particular attention is being paid to the sustainable character of the residential, working and living environment. Thus Binck Place will be an energy-efficient, healthy and livable residential area ready for the future. Sustainability is central throughout the development of the island. For example, the former SDU printing shed has been dismantled to be rebuilt elsewhere and the concrete floor of the printing shed will be used in the realization of the parking garage of Binck Plaats.
The homes are heated and cooled by heat and cold storage and heat recovery. This is combined with the use of solar panels on the roofs, extremely good insulation and balanced ventilation of the homes. Rainwater is collected in a rain fence, which is then reused for watering the gardens.
A green residential island
Binck Eiland is surrounded by water and greenery. A stone's throw from the center of The Hague and on the edge of Rijswijk and Voorburg, this new residential island is being built. The public area of Binck Eiland will be provided with lots of greenery and shady trees. Thus, the air will become healthier and rainwater can be better regulated. The island will be realized in 3 phases. Phase 1 has already been completed, with the transformation of the office building into apartment building 'De Binck'. Binck Place is currently being realized in phase 2. Phase 3 is on sale. This phase involves 113 apartments in new construction project Binck Kade.
