A large, green and sustainable housing project in Utrecht: De Cascade

A great example of this is a new residential complex in Utrecht that is now under construction. Near Terwijde station and the shopping center in Leidsche Rijn, construction is underway on De Cascade: A large, green and sustainable housing project not far from the center of Utrecht.

Project The Cascade includes the construction of a residential complex. 90 residential units will be built, to be divided into lofts, apartments, single-family homes and penthouses. There will also be an underground parking basement for residents and a communal courtyard garden. The residential building will also feature "exceptionally large roof terraces.

The Cascade is being built by ADS Group on behalf of BPD Gebiedsontwikkeling. The design is by architect Inbo, the structural engineer is Ingenieursbureau voor Bouwtechniek Goudstikker-de Vries B.V. and the installer is Van Losser Installaties. Also projectbureau Velox has been involved in the construction of this complex: Two Construction Executives, at the time of publication, have already put in over 1900 hours of their knowledge and skills to make this project a success.

Sustainability

In the homes, the goal is to minimize energy consumption. Measures for this include:

  • A gasless way of heating
  • Floor heating
  • Excellent insulation
  • Ventilation for a healthy indoor environment

In addition, as many solar panels as possible will be installed or connected to renewable energy from the neighborhood. These measures provide not only a better environment, but also a healthier living environment and - with normal use and energy-efficient appliances - a lower energy bill than in an existing home of the same size.

The building is further characterized by a large roof garden with various native plants and terraces, as well as hundreds of meters of planters on the facades with numerous plant species as well.

Tens of millions

The estimated estimate of this project is €36.2 million and the area is 10,800 square meters. Depending on the part of the complex, 3 to 7 floors will be built. Construction began in the summer of 2020 and the complex is expected to be completed in early 2022.
