New logistics center of Coulisse nearing completion

Coulisse is about to complete the first phase of its state-of-the-art warehouse, courtesy of Wessels Rijssen and Systabo Enschede. This facility - with an impressive area of 15,000 m2 - is 13 meters high and includes a 2,000 m2 automated area.

A beautiful and practical design

Coulisse's warehouse was inspired by the elegance of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakesh. Adorned with an intricate brick lattice pattern and smooth walls in natural tones, the imposing exterior embodies Coulisse's distinctive style. With 12 loading doors and special facilities for truck drivers, efficiency and convenience are cen traal in the design.

A healthy and positive workspace

Upon entering, visitors immediately see the courtyard garden at the heart of the office space. This source of natural light creates a positive working environment. Surrounding the garden are thoughtfully designed spaces for the logistics and customer service teams, and modern amenities are available, including meeting rooms and a generous canteen with bar for relaxing. A reception area with an open window facilitates communication with the delivery areas outside, ensuring a smooth workflow.

Optimized warehouse operations

In the warehouse, meticulous attention to detail ensures optimal functionality. From dedicated packing areas for hardware systems to specialized storage areas - every aspect of the layout focuses on improved productivity and safety. Consider, for example, mechanized handling systems, such as a cassette system for storing 6-meter-long aluminum goods. It also includes a 300 m2 covered vault with a ceiling height of 13 meters. Motionblinds motors with integrated lithium-ion battery are stored here, with a sprinkler system on each level. The implementation of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) highlights Coulisse's commitment to operational excellence. With a significant increase in storage capacity and streamlined workflow efficiency, this new warehouse represents a significant leap forward in the company's mission to better serve its valued customers.

Fully automated warehouse

As Coulisse begins Phase 2, the focus shifts to the construction of a fully automated high bay warehouse for rolls of fabric. This groundbreaking 7,000-square-foot facility with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology will revolutionize Coulisse's storage capabilities. With advanced features such as 120,000 storage locations and a seamless automated retrieval system, this warehouse streamlines all operations and provides faster processing and increased efficiency. Heavy lifting by logistics staff will be a thing of the past. 

A campus inspired by Apple and Vitra

Coulisse's future vision for the campus extends far beyond the walls of the warehouse. Ambitious projects are currently being planned. The construction of a headquarters and additional facilities with an impressive total area of 70,000 m2, is one of them. Using the innovative campuses of tech giants such as Vitra and Apple as inspiration, Coulisse wants to set a new standard for the window covering sector. The ambition is to be a leader in smart technology developments. But also to create an innovative hub where customers and partners from around the world can come together to work and innovate, shaping the future of window coverings.
