In addition to earthmoving, drainage and the layout of the construction pit for the underground parking garage (partly under existing encroachments), all-round earthmoving company VMV Projects has performed various other infra work on the plot between November 2017 and today, including the layout of the construction site.
Jeroen van Malestijn is project manager of VMV Projecten, which previously carried out complicated utility projects for contracting party J.P. van Eesteren, such as the construction of the nearby building site for the Goede Doelen Loterij. "Getting such plots of land ready for construction is more than just earth moving and placing sheet piling," he says. "You can say that we made the 2Amsterdam project completely ready for construction."
Construction preparation is a process that takes place between the executive operations of other parties - often in conjunction. "The most intensive were the ground operations related to the 65,000 m³ construction pit for the three-level, underground parking garage," Van Malestijn said. "Among other things, this required excavating foundation piles from the existing building. The drainage work was especially intensive. Thanks to a combination of soil injections and additional drainage, we were able to make the construction pit ready for the realization phase."
Furthermore, VMV Projects performed various additional work on the lot. "After the parking decks were finished, we made another final layer of 1.30 meters, with insulation - including with lava bims. Groenbedrijf Copijn then took care of the final landscaping. In addition, the construction site for 2Amsterdam has been adjusted several times; to this end, we have provided the site layout and paving. We are currently preparing the parking garage with final drive-in facilities."
