Specialist develops custom solution for fixing facade cladding

The architects at Broekbakema, who had never worked with Trespa products before, wanted to pull off a spectacular design that would exploit the aesthetic potential of Trespa® Meteon® cladding panels. They designed a cladding based on unusually small overlapping panels, creating a roof tile-like scaling pattern. In addition, the architects combined different finishes and came up with a design where each scale looks like a pixel on a computer screen.

Full-size model convinces stakeholders

"Both the architects and the people from Trespa had their doubts whether the result would meet expectations, but I said it was possible and suggested making a full-size model. This mock-up finally convinced everyone," says Sven Drooghmans, manager of Limeparts-Drooghmans, which specializes in ventilated facades and has been working with Trespa® solutions for 30 years. "We do not shy away from any challenge and developed a special solution for this project to fix the small Meteon® panels of 300 by 500 mm on the facade. Crucial is a customized fastening frame, based on horizontal aluminum profiles with special hooks and adjustable screws. We used perforated dilation profiles and the fastening systems are not visible, according to the wishes of the architect and client."

In the design phase, the idea did not seem to stand up because of the technical complexity, but thanks to Limeparts-Drooghmans, this challenging installation could still be realized. In addition to 1,200 m² of cladding, the specialist in ventilated facade systems with branches in Genk and Balen also supplied 600 m² of slats and ceilings for this project.
