Over the past 40 years, Sorba Projects, headquartered in Winterswijk, has helped build projects at home and abroad: the undulating OV Terminal in Arnhem, the mirror facade of Depot Boijmans van Beuningen, the varied interior of Beeld en Geluid in Hilversum, as well as multiple challenging projects in Germany and the United Kingdom, among others, including subway lines in London.
"Also for the new Holland Casino branch in Venlo, designed in the shape of a flower, we developed a spectacular interactive LED facade. This solution combines part sequins, equipped with LED lighting, and part perforated cladding," explains project engineer Mitchell Everts. "We constructed the sequins from aluminum rings, which are fitted with glass or aluminum chips. Behind the glass chips is the interactive LED lighting, while the aluminum chips were given a chameleon coating. This gives them a different color each time from different viewing angles. The whole is completed with sculptural facade edges made of Alpolic ACM panels and an aluminum facade band. The result is a dynamic and colorful facade, which attracts people to the building, so to speak."
