Together with sister company InSus, FALK Bouwsystemen has invested a lot of time and money in making sandwich panels circular and with positive results. With the CradleCore® insulation core, FALK now produces and supplies the world's first 100% circular sandwich panels.
"For DAVO's new company building in Deventer, main contractor Aan de Stegge Twello was looking for circular building materials. With our CradleCore® concept, we were able to offer a solution that perfectly matched the end customer's vision," explains commercial director Dennis Jordaan. "The core of these newly developed sandwich panels can easily be separated from the steel. The steel is recycled in the blast furnaces and reused for a new product, while the insulation foam from the core is processed into a new circular insulation panel. These sandwich panels come standard with a take-back certificate, meaning InSus will take them back within 40 years. Optionally, a buy-back guarantee within 25 years can also be chosen. As a manufacturer, we thus take responsibility for our materials even after we bring them to the construction site."
FALK Bouwsystemen from Ede has been producing and supplying insulated sheeting for roof, wall and facade for 13 years. The specialist in sandwich panels has two high-tech production lines.
Less material and lower weight thanks to new POF cable
Sustainable technical installations are becoming increasingly important in the construction process. If circularity is added, the challenges become even greater. More than ever, the installer must consider suitable solutions together with his suppliers and client. For over 60 years, Van Dalen Installatietechniek has been synonymous with expert advice and the expert installation of sustainable technical installations and therefore knows how to get things done.
"When Aan de Stegge Twello started DAVO's project, they contacted us. We have worked together before and complement each other perfectly," says project manager Frank Oostewechel. "We went looking for the most circular solutions for, among other things, plumbing and water drainage, heat pump systems, ventilation, camera security, intrusion prevention, access control, fire protection, sustainable lighting, .... In addition, the offices had to be air-conditioned independently."
Innovative cable
Van Dalen Installatietechniek relieves customers completely: from plan to execution. The company often works in a construction team, where it considers solutions and processes together with other partners. For elaboration, it has its own engineering department and on-site assembly teams. "For the data installation at DAVO, we worked closely with the specialists at Isolectra, which resulted in the development of the innovative POF cable," Oostewechel continues. "The average length of a data cable is 50 meters and a CAT6 network cable weighs about 55 gr/m. With a CAT6 network, a separate cable is pulled to each outlet. That means that a double outlet requires 100 meters of cable, accounting for 5,000 grams. For the same installation, you only need 1 50-meter POF cable and it also weighs only 7.5 gr/m. The amount of cable required is halved and the weight goes from 5,000 to only 375 grams, a reduction of more than 95%."
