A specialty of Preco, which produced the panels in its state-of-the-art precast concrete plant - literally around the corner, also in Apeldoorn. A review with Inge van de Weerd, project manager at Preco.
"Contractor Aan de Stegge Twello engaged us to supply a total of 1,850 m² of gravel panels for this project," says Van de Weerd. "In our state-of-the-art concrete plant, we have set up a special line dedicated exclusively to the production of such 'specials.' Usually the lead time for producing insulated concrete walls is about a day, the production of washed-out gravel panels requires a bit more patience. For us that sometimes means trial and error, especially when there is a tight schedule like here at DC Noordkaap in Apeldoorn."
The washed-out gravel panels are produced at Preco on a dump table. "In this case, an exterior shell in anthracite was requested. After pouring, the panel goes into the washing line to expose the special gravel incorporated in the mixture. Then the panel cures for two days under conditioned conditions in our hall, is impregnated and can be transported to the construction site," Van de Weerd explains. "The insulated gravel panels for DC North Cape average 3.5 meters high and 5.5 meters wide at a thickness of 250 millimeters. We also supplied the T-panels, rear walls, side walls and wide slab floors for the loading pit structures, as well as the walls for the three elevator cores. All in all, a great project, also in our backyard, and in good harmony with Aan de Stegge Twello."
Preco specializes in the production of precast concrete elements and is increasingly presenting itself as a total supplier. "We provide the complete picture from A to Z, the complete concrete shell from one factory. In doing so, we assist from design and production according to KOMO to delivery at the desired time and assembly of the precast concrete elements on site. Our factory is running at full capacity," Van de Weerd concludes.
