With its curved, partially transparent office facade, SEGRO Logistics Centre is anything but a straightforward distribution center. Wijnveen Aluminiumbouw BV supplied and installed the curtain walls and various other aluminum facade elements for this logistics center near Schiphol Airport.
Wijnveen is performing the work on behalf of Aan De Stegge Twello. "We recently started working with this contractor," says Wijnveen project manager Pieter Bas Bovee. "The nice thing about this collaboration is that we have the same way of thinking and working. We both go for high quality and a deal is a deal."
In early May 2019, Wijnveen was awarded the contract for SEGRO Logistics Centre. Bovee: "The curve in the curtain wall of the office gives the building extra cachet. So we executed that curve in a really round way, with rolled profiles and curved sunproof glazing. In total, we delivered and installed about 1,000 square meters of curtain walls. We also equipped the building with a number of doors, a skylight and two automatic sliding doors." As on most other projects, Wijnveen worked with high-quality Schüco profiles for the aluminum facade elements of SEGRO Logistics Centre.
The aluminum facade elements contribute to the distribution center's BREEAM 'Excellent' certification in several ways. Bovee explains, "We work with Cradle-to-Cradle materials and sustainable coatings. Our products also meet the requirements of BREEAM 'Excellent' in terms of insulation values. Of course, we also only work with BREEAM-certified suppliers."
In early November 2019, the assembly started. Wijnveen works with regular assembly partners for this. "We have been working with them for years," says Bovee. "They know exactly what we expect from them and we can literally and figuratively rely on them." By now, all of the aluminum facade elements have been assembled. Bovee looks back on a successful project: "This work went well from preparation to completion. We are proud to have contributed to this magnificent building."
