One reliable installer for five home improvement stores

As an installer, Van der Leun Electrobouw is now involved in all five Loods 5 home furnishing stores. In Duiven, the company provided the total picture: “Everything with a wire we installed.”

The Sliedrecht-based installer came into contact with Loods 5 when this retailer in Sliedrecht was converting a former IKEA store. “Van der Leun was the installer for the electrical installation of the IKEA building, which is why Loods 5 asked us for our contribution,” explains Arie de Koning, manager at Van der Leun Electrobouw. By now, the installation company is considered Loods 5“s in-house installer, he explains. ”We have been involved in the new construction projects in Amersfoort and Duiven and in the conversion of the old Sphinx factory into the Loods 5 store in Maastricht. We also now handle the electrical installations in Zaandam, the retailer's first home furnishings store."

Construction Team

Van der Leun carried out the projects in Amersfoort, Duiven and Maastricht in a construction team, of which Aan de Stegge Twello was the main contractor is.
"As a result, we are well attuned to each other,” De Koning indicates. “We know what can be expected of each other. That is important, since Loods 5 wants to keep the construction time as short as possible.” The new construction project in Duiven started in April 2019 and the doors opened at Loods 5 in Duiven at the end of November. Throughout the project, Van der Leun Electrobouw was present with about five men to install the total electrical installation.
This consists of a 10KV transformer station, a light and power installation, a low-voltage installation, an intrusion system and a certified fire alarm and evacuation system. “That all together in a short time makes this project so special,” De Koning says. “Everything with a wire we installed.” The required distribution boxes were built in-house by Van der Leun to act faster on the construction schedule and progress.

Always present

It was important for the installation that Van der Leun was continuously present right from the start of the steel construction. This continuous staffing allowed the installer to keep the project team smaller. The daily planning was discussed by Van der Leun's foreman with Aan de Stegge Twello's foreman. “In this way, the whole thing was a fluid process,” he says.”
