Prefabricated construction is seen as one of the solutions to the housing shortage. It allows for faster and cheaper construction. While everything is produced in the factory, the foundation can already be started on the building site. With the Seal4Prefab sealing system, Celdex fits right in with this development.
Celdex is a manufacturer of plastic foam sealing products. The Seal4Prefab sealing system consists of four principles: an air seal on the inside, an insulating middle seal, a driving rain seal on the outside and it is suitable for prefabrication. The products that are part of Seal4Prefab are suitable for sealing horizontal and vertical connection seams of prefabricated building elements.
The sealing system offers significant advantages. It possesses proven quality in durability, air and driving rain tightness. It is economically attractive because of its processing, which is time-saving and leads to reduced failure costs. Seal4Prefab is circular because the sealing products are demountable and reusable. It provides the necessary speed during construction; assembly and sealing are done in one operation.
Seal4Prefab has already been successfully applied in several projects. One example is phase 2 of the De Kwekerij project in Utrecht, consisting of six colorful residential towers with 244 rental units. Machiels Building Solutions is the producer of the colorful HSB façade elements. After production in the factory, these elements are fitted with Celdex sealing products. Pre-Seal M on the inside provides air sealing and insulation. EPDM Soft on the outside prevents the penetration of driving rain. Because these dry sealing products can be applied prefabricated in the factory, this saves considerable application time on the construction site. The assembly speed increased during the project to as much as one complete tower in one week.
Celdex considers the assembly and execution of the products very important. This translates into a toolbox meeting prior to assembly in the factory and assembly of the building elements on the construction site. Here the proper operation of the product and how critical points should be checked are carefully explained. During the project, Celdex works with a quality assurance report. Processes are carefully recorded, so that points of improvement can be adjusted immediately during projects.
