Broad E-specialismwith cool details

The future is all-electric and that includes the transportation sector. This is why the new Nabuurs distribution center emphasizes the importance of Van den Pol Elektrotechniek's specialism. "The charging points for electric trucks at the charging docks were installed by us, as were those for passenger cars in the parking lot," says project manager John Gielen. "A separate distributor was installed for the charging facilities. That makes future expansion easy."

Broad specialty

As a regular partner of Heembouw, Van den Pol was responsible for the E-supply throughout the complex. "In close coordination with Nabuurs, we also took care of the complete installation package," says work planner Reinier Oppelaar. "The Van den Pol specialism was used broadly in this: lighting, data installation, access control, CCTV and burglar alarm."

In the BREEAM 'Very Good' certification, LED lighting plays an important role. "Because of motion sensors, energy is never consumed unnecessarily. And as light burns less, the lifespan increases substantially. Furthermore, the lighting in the offices is screen-friendly; eyes get tired less easily."

The nature-inclusive nature of the DC also impacts the lighting plan. "Lampposts are spaced away from trees and the outdoor lighting switches off at 11 p.m. to avoid nuisance to animals." An insect hotel symbolizes the focus on nature. "All construction partners donated materials for this, in our case an empty cable reel. This provides a lasting link to the building's creators."

Huge can of Budweiser

The distribution center has more striking details. Gielen: "A cool element is the indoor sprinkler tank. Stickers make this tank look just like an enormous can of Budweiser. It is illuminated with spotlights, and our proposal to also make it look like a can of beer was well received. It provides an appropriate eye-catcher."

Lots of confidence

Heembouw and Van den Pol have worked closely together for many years. "In doing so, we use each other's expertise as much as possible. For example, in new projects Heembouw often obtains advice at an early stage about the construction connection or optimal execution of the installations." The mutual trust is high. "We are true partners and help each other whenever possible. That always benefits the end result."
