Van Kempen Koudetechniek provides the new building of Bieze Food Group in Nijkerk with the refrigeration and freezing installation for the refrigerated storage, processing areas, dispatch and new freezing area. An energy-efficient solution was chosen, controlled by the intelligent VK-Dynamics control system developed in-house.
Bieze Food Group is expanding its storage capacity at its Nijkerk location with additional cold storage areas and a large freezer area. This involves some 2,000 m2 of freezer storage with a height of 13 meters, 2,100 m2 of dry storage and just under 2,000 m2 of refrigerated storage. The new building joins the
existing warehouse.
Van Kempen Koudetechniek provided the central installation for the existing building and was also asked to supply and install the installation for the new building. Sales manager Frank Boeijen of Van Kempen Koudetechniek: "We were involved in the project at an early stage so that we could design the most optimal installation for our customer. The cooling and freezing area is completely cooled with natural refrigerants. In addition, maximum use is made of the residual heat: for the basic heating of the offices, defrosting the evaporators, drying the cold rooms, heating the dry storage and underfloor heating of the freezer cell. The heating of the offices is thereby supported with a Daikin VRV system with heat recovery."
The installation is controlled by Van Kempen Koudetechniek's VK-Dynamics control system. This ensures the lowest possible energy consumption at the best cooling performance. The system is optionally available with control based on daily power prices (EPEX). "The control system fully automatically anticipates power prices by buffering additional cold at times of low power prices and keeping the cells at rest at times of high power prices. The customer decides where the limits are for their product and we switch the technology fully automatically to that. The first savings results are really super."
The project meets the BREEAM requirements and has now been completed. During this project, Van Kempen also provided the installation for another extension to the building: the conversion of a dry storage to a cold store.
