Diversity and Scandinavian appeal. Recreate in luxury at Lake Leuker

Vacation homes are actually becoming more and more full-fledged residences, which is a trend Factor Architects sees and which is reflected in the Marina Resort.

Mark van Westerlaak: "We specialize in recreational homes, the project at Leukermeer is a great example of this. Our design was based on the end user. Over the past 20 years there has been an increasing need for luxury vacation homes. The vacationer comes from a good and luxurious home situation and expects the vacation feeling to be luxurious or different. You have to take that into account as a developer and operator."

At the Marine Resort, Factor Architects is capitalizing on its waterfront location. "This park was given a Scandinavian look with lots of wood and leaning terraces on the waterfront. The cottages in the forest area were given a different look again, with red roof tiles, for example." The plan came together within six weeks. "It turned our office upside down, but it's really nice as a company to work on a project that everyone is as committed to as this."

Factor Architects works with a large team, with each architect designing their own house type. "We made sure that each type had its own look, giving the buyers a choice in the use of materials, such as for the facade finishes. In the first phase of construction, the diversity can already be seen nicely, as can the beautiful look of the cove that is there." The picture the company envisioned is really coming together now. "It was a fun dynamic process, where everyone involved wanted to stick to quality and felt really involved in the project."
