All installations in the multicultural mourning center in Amsterdam-Zuidoost were installed by Vink Installatie Groep. That also made the assignment for this total installer immediately special. "Normally we take care of the electrical, mechanical or sanitary installations. Now we are responsible for the entire concept, from engineering to installation," says Abraham Kiflai, project manager of Vink Installatie Groep.
The wide range of installations made the work challenging. "A funeral home requires totally different installations than an office environment," says Kiflai. "There are funeral rooms, ceremony rooms, care rooms for ritual washing and kitchens. That requires special installations that also function independently of each other. On the other hand, it is easier to deliver the complete concept. Where we normally have to consult many things with other parties, we can now coordinate and coordinate everything ourselves."
For cooling and heating, Vink Installation Group installed a Variable Refigurant Flow system, or 'VRF' for short. This regulates cooling and heating in a single system. Vink provided the entire building with underfloor heating, installed a heat pump, regulated tap water by means of boilers and realized a Pluvia system for rainwater drainage and a waste water disposal system. And of course there was an extensive electrical installation for the energy supply of all equipment in the building.
It was important that the air handling units for the ceremony rooms, grooming areas and ritual washing be set up so that they function independently. Kiflai: "That was quite a challenge. Under no circumstances were the airflows of the washing rooms to be mixed with those of the funeral rooms. For that reason, we installed two air handling units."
