Good facades, better buildings, best future 

Preservation is not a trend, but a profession. And Lieftink Geveltechniek masters that trade like no other. This family business in Alphen aan den Rijn has been manufacturing and assembling aluminium window frames and facades for more than 50 years. Not according to the standard, but with an eye for detail, innovation and a long lifespan.

Those who work with facade technology know: precision is everything. That's why Lieftink keeps control of the direction from beginning to end. "From drawing to assembly, we do it all ourselves," says Managing Director Joost Plompen. "That's not a luxury, but necessary if you want to deliver quality." Lieftink's expertise? Smart, streamlined processes. "We measure ourselves, produce the window frames in our own factory and then assemble them on site. We also regularly dismantle the old window frames and we ensure that everything is neatly finished after assembly. In this way we take care of everything for our clients from A to Z."  

In new construction, that means working seamlessly with contractors. In renovations, it requires knowledge of old building techniques. "You have to know how buildings were made in the past in order to make them sustainable today," Plompen explains. "We have that expertise. That's why contractors trust us."

Sustainability: more than a commitment 

A well-insulated window frame is an important step, but sustainability goes beyond energy performance. "We look not only at the end result, but also at how we get there," says Plompen. "Together with our partner Schüco, we are working on 'carbon control': aluminum with low CO2 emissions, partly produced with green energy." 

Lieftink also applies sustainability in its business operations. Electric vehicles make up the new fleet, materials are reused and production processes are becoming increasingly efficient. "Legislation sets us in motion, but we do this primarily because we believe in it," Plompen emphasizes. "For us, it is not a matter of having to, but of wanting to."  

At work in Noordwijk 

A fine example of Lieftink Geveltechniek's approach is the renovation of 172 apartments in the Huis Ter Duin complex in Noordwijk. Here the company is replacing all window frames and the specialists are contributing to making the building more sustainable. "The great thing about this project is that we are not only renewing the facade, but also including the residents in the process," Plompen says. 

Working in a lived-in situation requires a tight schedule. "Every day we remove a window frame and install a new one, fully finished. This must be done carefully and quickly, so that residents experience as little inconvenience as possible. In addition, they get a say in the choice of color and ventilation grids. Good communication is just as important in this as technical craftsmanship."
