FAKRO, together with partners BouwCenter and Remondis Nederland, is introducing a new solution for sustainable, project-based replacement and recycling of roof windows: FAKRO Life Cycle Service. Aimed at making existing homes more sustainable, but also suitable for the construction of new, sustainable homes. With this, the leading skylight manufacturer is targeting ambitious housing associations that, like FAKRO, when it comes to circular construction, don't wait and see, but take action.
FAKRO Life Cycle Service is a total package of disassembly and recycling of old roof windows, delivery and installation of new sustainable FAKRO roof windows and - as an option - also maintenance based on a multi-year maintenance plan. FAKRO has entered into partnerships with Bouwcenter and Remondis Nederland Afval & Recycling for this purpose, calculates one total price, takes complete control and is the only point of contact.
'There is a realization in Dutch housing construction that we need to adopt a new, sustainable approach when building, renovating and maintaining homes and housing complexes,' says Bart Peters, commercial director FAKRO Netherlands. 'The goal is for the entire built environment to be circular by 2050 - but preferably much earlier. All materials must then be reusable. A considerable challenge, it involves more than 2.1 million housing associations. On some of the roofs of those homes there are skylights that will need to be replaced in the coming years. To give an idea: in the Netherlands, more than 100,000 are replaced each year. FAKRO does not want to wait but to lead the way in circular skylight replacement. Together with housing corporations who, like us, believe in the social power and financial value of innovative thinking and circular construction. With them, we want to move towards more and more skylight recycling in the Netherlands.'
FAKRO Life Cycle Service
FAKRO developed FAKRO Life Cycle Service based on this sustainable vision. A total package for housing corporations in which FAKRO takes responsibility for the dismantling and recycling of old roof windows, the delivery and installation of new, sustainable and maintenance-friendly FAKRO roof windows and, if desired, also the preparation and implementation of a multi-year maintenance plan. In addition, FAKRO offers years of warranties based on trusted quality, including 20 years on glazing and window hardware, 10 years on the roof windows and flashings, and a lifetime warranty on hail damage.

For years, FAKRO has opted for the best materials, smart hardware and a minimum of rotating parts. It allows housing associations to save significantly on time and money for skylight maintenance. With the introduction of FAKRO Life Cycle Service, FAKRO completes its offer for project-based skylight replacement and makes an important contribution to what is really important for housing associations: cost control, sustainability and value preservation of homes based on circular construction.
