Home renovation? Don't forget the crawl space! 

If you are going to renovate your home, it is wise to include the crawl space right away as well. You can insulate it, which can give good results. Why do you need to insulate a crawl space? 

A crawl space sits under your home and can provide a lot of moisture and cold. The downside of this is that cold and moisture always find a web upward. This can cause your concrete floor or whatever floor you have feels very cold. Naturally, such a cold floor will create an unpleasant temperature in your home. To solve this you will turn the heating up a few degrees, which will automatically increase your energy consumption as well. The extra energy will of course cause extra costs. So insulating the crawl space will definitely save you money in the long run. It also has a positive effect on your pipes. This is because there are usually pipes in the crawl space. These are not always properly sealed, so the moisture can cause mold.

ESP pearls

The crawl space insulation can be done in a number of ways, as mentioned earlier. For example, you can choose ESP pearls, which is very suitable for bottom insulation. You can choose from two different types. There are both white and gray ESP beads. The grey ones have a higher insulation value than the white ones. This means that if you choose the grey ESP beads, you will need fewer than the white ESP beads. If you choose the ESP pearls then you really only need to spread them in one layer over your crawl space. This is how you apply the insulation material.

DI chips

In addition to ESP beads, you can also choose to insulate your crawl space using DI chips. This is relatively inexpensive, while also being easy to apply. All you have to do with this is to distribute the chips in the space over the entire area of the floor. So this is actually exactly the same as what you need to do to insulate the crawl space with ESP beads. In general, a layer about 20 to 30 centimeters high will be enough. DI chips are incredibly easy to install in the crawl space. This is the main reason why many people choose these handy chips. By the way, you can combine them with rock or glass wool.
