Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
The BaanTower will be an impressive residential tower 158 meters high and with 427 rental apartments, for which Smeulders Interieurgroep will provide the custom interior design. Family-owned EGGER is one of the leading manufacturers of decorative board materials for the furniture and interior design industries. “From chipboard to MDF and laminates: high-quality products as well as innovative solutions are developed and produced in EGGER's factories,” says Adrichem. “Our Clic technology is a striking example of this and involves a dimensionally stable and continuous tongue and groove joint for the right-angled connection of decorative particle boards, which eliminates the need for additional glue and screws for structural assembly.”
“Typically, we supply our decorative sheet materials to interior builders, who then cut and assemble them on their projects,” Adrichem says. “Our Clic assembly technology simplifies this process considerably. Because the sheet materials are delivered as complete prefabricated construction kits, per apartment and including assembly accessories, the interior builder can focus entirely on engineering and assembly. This allows not only fast and scalable, but also cost-efficient work. Combined with our optimized production and logistics process, no transportation of residual materials or waste to the project site takes place, while flawless assembly provides for a sustainable construction process.”
In cooperation with Smeulders Interieurgroep, EGGER coordinated the location and construction of the kitchens at The Baantower and the desired operations, says Adrichem. “Decovisie, our reliable distribution partner, plays a key role in this project. They take care of carefully sorting all deliveries into complete kitchen packages, contributing to a streamlined and error-free process. The packages are then transported just-in-time and in full trucks to the construction site, where they are easily delivered to the appropriate floor. Here the packages are assembled by hand into quality kitchens.” Adrichem is convinced that this makes Clic a game-changer within serial project design. “The combination of industrial precision and on-site flexibility is hugely interesting for large projects such as The BaanTower,” he says. “Here, quality, speed and sustainability are optimally combined.”
The first kitchen packages will be delivered to Rotterdam starting in late February. Like the closets, the kitchen cabinets in The BaanTower will be made of 100% recyclable particleboard. “A beautiful walnut decor with matching texture was chosen, which combined with the modern dark gray interior cabinets and LED strips in sophisticated positions creates a unique look.”
Following on from the kitchens and closets, EGGER also supplies PerfectSense lacquered laminate panels for Kegro Deuren's approximately three thousand interior doors, giving them excellent abrasion resistance and anti-fingerprint.
